Over the last few years we have all witnessed some major high street stores being exposed on TV for selling unethical goods which are manufactured in far east "sweat shops" in "slave trade" conditions.
Here at Dune we source our "fairtrade stock" from suppliers who are recognised by BAFTS (The British Association for Fair Trade Shops)
BAFTS is a network of independant fair trade shops across the UK. There are over 100 BAFTS fair trade retailers in the UK.
The main objectives of BAFTS are to:
1) Promote fair trade retailing across UK
2) Raise the profile of fair trade on the high street
3) Provide a point of contact and communication about fair trade
4)Exchange ideas about fair trade amongst its members
5) Provide links to other fair trade organizations such as WFTO (World Fair Trade Organization).
Our fair trade products come from suppliers who are actively engaged in supporting producers, raising awareness and promoting the use of traditional crafts in their goods.
